Problem: META Description Tag
In this case, JohnBrooks.com doesn’t use description tags. When sites don’t specify the description, Google pulls a snippet of text from their page to use for the description. Unfortunately, Google is using the navigation menu for the description. The result looks like this:

From a potential visitor's point of view, there is little to entice a visit. Not having a description can result in a 20-50% loss in traffic!

Solution
Fixing this problem is easy. Create a META description tag for every page on the site. A typical description tag will:

• Consist of 10-25 words
• Describe the contents of the page

Problem: Javascript Menu

Solution: Create a Sitemap Page
The easiest way to make your pages SEO friendly while keeping the Javascript navigation menu is to create a sitemap page on your site. The sitemap page should contain a link to each page in your website. By organizing your links, it becomes a useful resource for visitors navigating the site. Also, the home page should link directly to your sitemap page. This enables search engines to find links to your important pages and properly index the entire site.
